Women in Tech are paving ways in the industry, and even though the industry is still seen as a male-dominated sphere, the importance of having more women in technology and pursuing an education in ICT is constantly highlighted and spoken about.
International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in April annually, to highlight the importance of women in the information and communications technology sector.
We took this opportunity to highlight further some of our Women in Technology, what they do, their views on the matter and any encouragement they have for women alike who would like to start or further pursue a career in technology or related fields.

What challenges do you face as a female in a male dominated industry?
I have not personally experienced discrimination, but the tech industry does lack female representation, especially in decision-making roles. Even though a lot of progress has been made, the industry is still seen as male-dominated, so more efforts need to be made to attract more female and diverse talent.
What advice would you give to other women who would like to pursue a career in Technology?
My advice would be to never stop learning. Be it a workshop, talk, podcast or a course, make time to continuously improve yourself.Another point would be to surround yourself with Mentors. Whether a manager or someone you look up to professionally, find people who you can shadow. Don’t be afraid to ask for a helping hand with how you can improve yourself. Finally, to be yourself: We bring more to the table than we think, as we all have our different skills, point of views, experiences, and life journeys.
